How much does an App cost?

App development is a complex dimension, just like all other IT development. A successful app development project therefore requires specialists, and the price varies depending on the scope and complexity of the project. At imangu, we have been developing Apps since 2008, and our experience enables us to estimate projects in advance, so contact us and get some free sparring with a consultant, as well as a price estimate.

In short, the price is about development time, i.e. how many hours of work the project in question takes. However, there are many factors that come into play when the working time has to be estimated in advance. That is why we also spend a lot of time sparring about the project initially, and we do it free of charge. During this introductory sparring, we help to round off the concept, and jointly seek to answer a number of basic questions.

This dialogue then results in a specific price estimate or a decidedly fixed price offer. This concerns, among other things, about design, functions and system integrations. In addition, the technologies you choose to use, including which code language and framework you choose to work in. Read if necessary. more about App technologies here:  App technologies here.

An example of a simple App could be the Flashlight App, which is a standard app on most phones. It does not require an App server to which data is sent and received, and functionally an integrated API is used for the hardware that exists in the phone. In addition, there is tailor-made design for one to two page types, development of visual identity (logo, color theme, fonts, design style), as well as quality assurance.

This type of app will typically need an app server, so that the app has an online database it can communicate with, as well as a dynamic back-end where content can be edited. In addition, there may be a need for one or two simpler integrations to other systems and third-party software, such as e.g. Google Maps, payment gateway, Salesforce etc.

In this lease, the App will typically have one or more unique user types, with corresponding login and user administration in the back-end. There may be in-app purchase options, several user functions and one or more integrations to external systems. The difference is large in price, as the most complex apps on the market have in practice cost up to several million. Money which, of course, has been continuously invested over a number of years.

Complex App Systems have several user interfaces, e.g. both an app and a website with user login, where some or all app functions can also be performed. It can be software systems where a Windows program also has an App user interface, such as a call center system. It can also be IoT systems with hardware integrations, such as automated washrooms, or alarm systems, or apps with complex AI or Machine Learning functionality. Or it can be fleet management for the large freight company, or ERP, CRM, Busines intelligence Software or other types of systems with App user interfaces for the established company that wants to own their own software.
